World-renowned equestrian, nature and wildlife photographer Peter Llewellyn announces new initiatives
June 11, 2008: Gabriola Island, BC : – A professional photographer for nearly 30 years, Peter Llewellyn’s passion turned to nature, wildlife and environmental work following his move to Canada in 1999. Earlier this year, the sale of HorseSource Ltd., one of the world’s largest equestrian stock photo agencies, has allowed him to expand the scale of his ever-popular workshops and photography field trips, and he is delighted to announce new initiatives for the second half of 2008 and into 2009.
“FOCUS ON BRAZIL”
A very fruitful network of contacts in Brazil has provided an opportunity to offer a unique field trip encompassing a wide range of photographic skills for all levels. Scheduled for November 2008, this field trip offers three distinct locations (including the world famous Pantanal region), that also offer a wide range of activities for partners not participating in the photography workshops. These tours take place over two or three weeks, starting and finishing in São Paulo. A transitional period between spring and summer, and the height of the nesting/breeding season for those especially interested in bird photography (one of Peter’s specialty subjects), this is an ideal time of year to visit Brazil.

“FOCUS ON GUATEMALA”
As a tourist destination, Guatemala has so far remained one of the world’s undiscovered jewels, yet, according to Wikipedia, “Guatemala’s abundance of biologically significant and unique ecosystems contribute to Mesoamerica’s designation as a biodiversity hotspot.” It’s hardly surprising that throughout history various literary authors have become enthralled with Guatemala – and Aldous Huxley described Lake Atitlan as “one of the most beautiful lakes in the world.” Our hotel, situated on its shores, is located in the Guatemalan highlands region, which also features in Chris Santella’s Fifty Places to go Birding Before You Die … another reason why Guatemala should be high on the list of hotspots for any photographer interested in nature, wildlife, landscapes…. to say nothing of the total immersion experience in Mayan culture.
